Proof Shows Power of Previs for ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’

In the company’s largest feature film project to date, LA headquartered Proof Inc. spent 14 months prevising Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier and another eight months handling postvis.

Led by previs supervisor Monty Granito, Proof was involved in every major action and visual effects-driven scene for the tentpole feature, including the major third-act finale. Working closely with directors Joe and Anthony Russo and VFX supervisor Dan Deleeuw, Proof also designed the Helicarrier sequences and Falcon’s flying sequences as well as scenes with Captain America facing down and destroying a Marvel S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet.

Now Proof has unveiled two videos showcasing their work for the film, including the Quinjet sequence and the previs for the finale.

The videos, which employ better animation than some finished shows, clearly showcase the effectiveness of using previs for filmmaking.
